Hundreds of statewide professional development opportunities (such as workshops, classes and conferences) are listed and updated regularly in the Bright Futures Information System (BFIS) Course Calendar. You can access Course Calendar directly from the sidebar on the Bright Futures Information System website.
There are many ways to search the Course Calendar for upcoming classes and workshops. To find upcoming classes and workshops always start by typing in the current date after Session Dates From. You can also search for specific types of training by selecting from the Knowledge Area drop down box. You can select general topics, target audience, training format and more. You can also search by Hour Type (credit or not).
Other search options include: Title, Sponsor, and Location. Select Starts with or Contains to include what you want.
Once your search is complete, scroll down to see a list of upcoming classes and workshops you can browse and sort. The bar above the list lets the sort the the list in different ways. When you click on Details you will find additional information such as how to register, fees, the instructor, and who to contact for more information. Northern Lights Career Development Center helps people to use the professional development tools in BFIS. The Bright Futures Information System (BFIS) is a data management system designed and operated by the Child Development Division of the Department for Children and Families. Northern Lights verifies and enters completed training and coursework into professionals’ BFIS Quality and Credential accounts.

The Vermont Northern Lights Career Development Center works with many partners to unify and enhance the professional development system for early childhood and afterschool professionals in Vermont. It is funded by a grant from the Child Development Division of the Vermont Agency of Human Services. The Community College of Vermont (CCV) and the Vermont Child Care Industry and Careers Council (VCCICC) are co-grantees.
