CCV summer courses – a few VCCICC slots available

While the official deadline has passed, there are still spaces available for:

Infant Toddler Development and Care, Bennington (5 spaces)

Development of the Young Child: Ages 3-8
St. Johnsbury (5 spaces)
Winooski ( 4 spaces)

Communication in the ECE/AS Workplace Morrisville (7 spaces)

VT Child Care Industry and Careers Council (VCCICC ) contracts with Community College of Vermont (CCV) to offer these courses as part of the Vermont Child Care Apprenticeship program. Additional spaces in the courses are available at very low cost for professionals working in regulated child care Questions should be relayed directly to vccicc@comcast.net or 985-2700
Registration will stay open until the courses reach capacity

Online training

There is new webpage on the Northern Lights website under : Training and Coursework. It is called Online Training and Coursework and here is the link.

The page includes information about-

taking online college courses and training that is not for college credit.
different types of credit for online training and courses
the process that Northern Lights Career Development Center uses to approve sponsors of online training (that is not for college credit) .

The page will be listing the approved sponsors, with a description and link to thier webpages starting in mid May 2012. Approved Sponsors of online training, provide trianing that can count as training hours and CEUs

Seeking Instructors for Afterschool college courses

The Commmunity College of Vermont with Vermont Center for Afterschool Excellence, is seeking one or two qualified instructors to teach two contracted, online courses starting this fall, 2012, which are specifically designed for professionals and staff working in the afterschool field. The position will be open until filled.

The courses are Introduction to Afterschool Education ( EDU1320) and Development of the School Age Child (EDU-2712). This document provides the information about applying for this job.

VAEYC request for conference presenters

Counting online training???

Northern Lights has been charged by the Child Development Division to determine how to approve and verify on-line training. We already can verify and approve on-line coursework that is for college credit. So, now we are finalizing the criteria to approve and verify on-line training that is not for college credit.

What should count???

How did you decide?? This short document explains why and how we did this and what DRAFT criteria we came up with.

But I have a question! This page lists frequently asked questions that we heard while we were drafting these criteria, and the answers.
